I regret very much that I have to raise this question on the Adjournment to-night. However, in view of the fact that I have questioned the various people in charge for the past three years in connection with drainage and have met with failure on all occasions, I think it is essential that, in the interests of my constituents, I should raise this matter to-night. The construction of bridges is not undertaken by my Department. Such a work is the duty of the appropriate road authority in so far as it falls within its statutory powers. The bridge, if built, would not connect up the public road systems of Galway and Roscommon, and could not be erected by either county council unless about two miles of reconstructed new road of general public utility were also to be made.
