Posted July 27, Historically scientists thought the itch was nothing more than low-level pain but in the last decade they have discovered that this humble irritation is an extremely complex phenomenon. Dr Desiree Kozlowski from the School of Health and Human Sciences at Southern Cross University scratched beneath the surface of what science now knows to answer the Curious North Coast questions — why does an itch move and if it does move was there ever really an itch in the first place?
Burn-injured skin heals in one to three years if scar tissue develops. Pressure garments and plastic orthoses may shorten the healing time. If thick scars do not form, healing is complete when the pink color fades 6—12 months.
