Not that anyone really cares about SsangYong concepts, but it has become sort of a tradition for the Korean automaker to turn up at major European events each year with one or two concept SUVs that will never be produced. So here’s this year’s offering, the SsangYong LIV-2 concept, all set for its Paris Motor Show debut.

Actually, SsangYong says that the LIV-2 is the final episode of their long-running and fairly boring concept series called Y400 development project, and that the LIV-2 will be launched next year. So that explains why the concept car looks so much like the current Tivoli. The more production ready those concepts got, the less exciting they have become. And now we’re at a point where the long-awaited new model looks pretty much like an existing model. So well done there.

The LIV in SsangYong LIV-2 name stands for ‘Limitless Interface Vehicle’ which sounds like an outright lie because nothing is limitless, especially the scope of Korean engineering. But the car is said to have “contemporary luxury interior equipped with a suite of advanced communication technologies,” and it comes with a choice of 2.2 litre Euro 6 diesel or 2.0 litre GDi turbo petrol engine. So it is well appointed enough for its intended market.
